WCT Power Oats Recipe
Benefits of Oats
Oats are one of the healthiest grains on the market and contain a key nutrient that our body cannot produce on its own. That nutrient is beta-glucan. Beta-glucan is a form of soluble fiber that helps improve our immune systems defense system, decrease our total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, decrease our blood sugar and insulin response, and allows our bodies to feel a sense of fullness after consumption.
Beta-glucans improve our immune system by aiding in the activation of macrophages which are key players in the targeting and engulfment process that occurs when a foreign particle enters our body. Additionally, beta-glucan has been proven to help fight against stomach, colorectal, and breast cancer by reducing tumor activity and decreasing the side effects caused by cancer treatment.
Beta-glucan aids in the reduction of cholesterol levels by increasing the excretion of cholesterol-rich bile which ultimately decreases the circulating level of cholesterol left in the blood. Furthermore, beta-glucan helps decrease our blood sugar by forming a thick gel that delays emptying of the stomach and absorption of glucose into the blood, which also helps to keep us full longer.
Why not add oats to your diet and reap the benefits of beta glucan?
