WCT Vegetarian Chili Recipe

Benefits of Chick Peas:

Chick peas, or garbanzo beans, are a type of legume that offer numerous health benefits. They are even considered a super food to some.

Chickpeas are a great source of plant based protein, making it a great choice for vegetarians and vegans. It is also high in fiber both of which will increase satiety, helping to keep you full for a long time.

These legumes are also a great source of folate and vitamin B6 which is usually lacking in diets of vegetarians and vegans. These micronutrients are essential in producing new cells and synthesizing DNA molecules. 




2 cans of Black Beans

2 cans of Garbanzo Beans

2-3 Carrots

4-5 Asparagus

1 Plantain

1-2 Onions

2-3 tbsp of Garlic

1 can of Tomato sauce

2 cups of Water

Red Pepper Flakes


Chili Pepper

Fat: 3g

Protein: 15g


Total Cook Time:

30 minutes



Step 1: Dice up the garlic and onion

Step 2: Chop the carrots, asparagus, and plantain into small pieces

Step 3: Saute the garlic and onion for a few minutes in a large pot over medium heat

Step 4: Add the carrots, asparagus, and plantains (as well as any other vegetables you would like) to the large pot. Stir frequently

Step 5. Add the red pepper flakes, cumin, chili powder, paprika, and oregano to the pot, continue to stir

Step 6. Add the drained black beans and drained garbanzos to the pot, mix well

Step 7: Add in the tomato sauce and water

Step 8: Reduce the flame to low, cover the pot, and let it cook for 30 minutes
